Bungee jumping gives adrenaline-junkies the thrill of jumping from a platform hundreds of feet in the air, while catching glimpses of some incredible scenery. You repeat the fall again (albeit at a slower pace) when the bungee cord reaches its limit and springs back. When the adrenaline rush fades you are lowered to safety; but all you will think about is where and when your next jump will be. Here are the 6 craziest bungee jumps on earth:

1. Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge, Canon City, Colorado

1 out of 6 Craziest Bungee Jumps

The suspension bridge is a staggering 1053 ft (321m) above the Arkansas river. It crosses over the Royal Gorge Route Railway and has a wooden plankway for some amazing views of the river. You get over 10 seconds of freefall on a jump like this and can hit terminal velocity before the cord starts to stretch. This is one jump you definitely won’t forget.

2. Macau Tower, China

2 out of 6 Craziest Bungee Jumps

The 760 ft (233m) Macau Tower offers one of the greatest bungee jumps in the world. Bungee jumping legend A J Hackett made the Guiness Book of World Records in 2006 for the world’s highest jump when he leapt off the Macau Tower. There are spectacular views of the city and you’ll hear nothing but the wind rushing past your ears when you leap.

3. Verzasca Dam, Val Verzasca, Switzerland

3 out of 6 Craziest Bungee Jumps

Made famous by the James Bond movie ‘GoldenEye’, the 720 ft (220m) Verzasca Dam is the world’s largest off-ground bungee jump. The dam offers a pure freefall swinging from a single cord and is a daring leap which will test even the most serious adrenaline-junkie. If you feel like stepping into the shoes of 007, you’ll need an advance reservation and medical check.

4. Bloukrans Bridge, South Africa

4 out of 6 Craziest Bungee Jumps

Spanning the Bloukrans River, Bloukrans bridge is the world’s highest single span bridge, and offers a smooth 708 ft (216m) jump controlled by a pendulum system. You can reach the jumping platform by road or use the Flying Fox zipwire. There are spectacular views of the Tsitsikamma national park, and you can canoe along the Garden Route afterwards, or take a relaxing walk into the mountains.

5. Europabrücke Bridge,
5 out of 6 Craziest Bungee Jumps

Part of the Brenner Autobahn linking Austria and Italy across the Alps, the 630 ft (192 m) Europabrücke Bridge has beautiful alpine scenery and a jump to challenge even the most serious of bungee jumpers. Take a quick look at the panorama around you before leaping into the Wipp Valley and feeling the adrenaline rushing as it heads towards you. Best feeling ever.

6. Niouc, Switzerland

6 out of 6 Craziest Bungee Jumps

If you want a challenge, why not try the highest bungee jump in Europe? At 623 ft (190m), the suspension bridge in Niouc offers plenty of thrills for adrenaline-junkies. You are surrounded by some of Europe’s most beautiful scenery as you plunge towards the earth and may, quite possibly, be able to catch some of it. What might actually happen is that the freefall will consume your thoughts and the cord will catch before you know it, bouncing you back to the tower. You’ll take a deep breath and everything in the world will be okay.
